    A Worthy Contender!

Reviewed in the United States on 6 February 2025

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

    OK, I'm a fan.
I am the owner of 2 SM57's, SM58, Shure 55, 2 different AKG dynamics, EV 676, Sterling Audio Condenser, Blue Dynamic Mic, a handful of some vintage mics etc… I must say that this mic is a very worthy contender at a great price. It's got a great clarity in the vocals, and the handling of this mic is superior as it's virtually quiet. It's got a switch that is virtually quiet except for the electrical connection, ever so slight electrical "click" you can barely notice. The mechanical switch is not audible, but the electrical connection is… This is very very quiet however even on a juiced up signal booster.
The mic is a solid build, about as solid as an SM57, and those are virtually tanks. I enjoy the sound of the vocals when doing voice work and singing in my home studio. I love the build quality of this mic, though it might be a little bulky, but it's for a reason. The capsule inside is very well suspended and has a pleasantly surprising "give" that helps with the handling noise. The caspule seems comparable in quality to the other well sought after mics I own, and there is nothing cheap about it once you unscrew the screen/grill you will see. I am very surprised how well this handles the plosives compared to the SM57. Incredible… virtually plosive free in comparison. I'm shocked.
This is basically an all around type of mic, that would do well as a podcast, vocals, singing mic, though I yet to hook it up to an amplifyer for direct instrument mic-ing.
It comes with a well made mic clip, and a lengthy XLR cable that is also good quality.
The very low end past 50hz won't reach the audible 20Hz low end, but this will get low. It's a little cut on the low end so vocals might be it's main jam… (no pun intended). Overall this is a worthy option for the price. I'm impressed.

I genuinely like it, price aside.

So, you can see from the pic that the solder points came loose. I would have understood this if the grill had somehow come loose, but it had not, and appeared fully closed when I discovered that it didn't work. I'm a DIY person, and was able to fix it myself later that same day.
Now, granted I am a 'professional' musician. Not big arenas, but it's my primary source of income. So, the mic probably saw more 'abuse' than the average person would give it. But, it was still primarily just being transported in a bag. And, I've never had a previous mic have solder issues from normal usage.
I still like it. I prefer it to a 58 (again, for my voice type), and will continue to use it. But, I thought that this should be pointed out.
    *********************
So, my normal mic was recently injured, and I decided to give this guy a try. I've now used it at three or four live gigs.
I asked the sound people for opinions, and what I got from a couple was basically the same thing that I was hearing, that there's a 'mid-bump.'
Now, that is not necessarily going to work out as well for everyone. But for me, that's a positive.
My voice is kind of 'sweet' or 'soft: (I'm a guy), as far as the 'timbre' of it. Not the volume, the overall quality, and that can mean issues sometimes in a live situation. With something like a 58, it's easy to not stand out in a mix, and often you have to increase the volume/gain or eq to the point that it becames feedback-prone. Or, you simply can't eq it properly, and just deal with the mud.
So, a mic like this, that naturally is more mid-heavy from the start, can be very helpful. It really helps to cut through, and may not need as much pure volume.
So yea, it might not be for everyone. If you sound good with something like a 58, you may sound kind of harsh through something like this. But, for a lot of folks, this might just be a really good option. I haven't tested it, but I would imagine it would make a nice speaking/podcast mic for just about anyone.

Good but not quite as good as competitors.

The build quality and audio quality are good but I found the higher frequencies to be a bit harsh at times, not too bad though and only with Ts and Ss. This can easily be corrected with minor EQ. The issue is how this microphone compares with others in this price range. It is a good microphone but can't be disassembled and serviced if needed and has a plastic on and off switch that makes loud popping sounds in the recording when used. The switch feels solid but if you have to put a switch on a microphone make it out of metal and make it silent like an SM58S. The words "dynamic microphone" on the handle along with the switch make it look more like a karaoke microphone than a real one. Appearance isn't the most important thing but it does matter to some people, especially when in video.
The microphone is quite heavy for its size and the mic clip is sturdy just like the exterior of the microphone. I say exterior because it can't be opened like other microphones can so I have no way of knowing how well the internals are made. I don't think they would be bad but I can't say anything if I haven't seen them.
Plosive rejection is good but handling noise rejection is terrible, I suggest keeping this microphone on a stand. Audio quality overall is good but will need a bit of EQ to tame the higher frequencies. I would describe the sound as bright and detailed. I prefer a brighter and more detailed sound but some prefer a darker tone. I didn't have any problems with lower frequencies. They were present but not overpowering. This will also depend on your voice though along with other factors like technique.
Overall it is a nice microphone in this price range but with other proven competitors out there only costing $20 more and being even better I would recommend getting a different one unless you need several microphones and need to save money. If you only need one microphone, this one is good but others out there are even better and only cost a tiny bit more.

A heavier mic and very quiet

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

The mic seems like a quality mic, but it was heavier than my other mics and it was much quieter. I actually had to turn the volume up at least 3 notches than my other mics, to get the same level of volume. While this mic might last longer than my other mics, I don't prefer to use it since it's at least twice as heavy as my other mics and it's so quiet. Unfortunately, I can't return it, otherwise I would.

Comfortable to hold, nice rich sound for the price, works great on a streaming setup.

I have it attached to a Rode Streamer X and it sounds great. Has a nice full sound for it's price. I also like the ergonomics of it. Has a great feel in the hand and is natural to carry, and feels great with a wireless xlr transmitter attached to it. While it doesn't matter, I do think it looks better than things like the Shure SM58.
Very happy with the mic. Sounds great and works well.
