As an upgrade from the legendary U22 XT, this audio interface offers maximum flexibility and excellent audio quality.

Amber i1 offers a new, modern and eye-catching design with an amber volume control that stands out distinctly from the sand green case colour. Hardware loopback, USB-C, a completely redesigned LED display area, separate line inputs, convenient signal source selection, and outstanding audio quality are just some of the special features that speak for the Amber i1.

Connections and functions

1: XLR COMBO INPUT. For connecting a microphone via XLR or 6.3 mm jack.

2: MICROPHONE GAIN REGULATOR Input level microphone input.

3: Input level indicator. Indicates input level via LEDs.

4: CURRENT INPUT. Indicates which input is currently active (Line, Microphone, Hi-Z or Microphone + Hi-Z).

5: INPUT SELECTION. Select the active input signal (displayed by LED).

6: HEADPHONE REGULATOR To control the volume for a connected headphone.

7: +48V switch. For activating the 48V phantom power for condenser microphones.

8: HI-Z INPUT. For connecting an electric guitar via a 6.3 mm jack cable.

9: +48V LED. Indicates if phantom power is active.

10: MONITOR RING REGULATOR Sets the monitoring signal: Input signal, playback signal or both.

11: MASTER REGULATOR Controls playback volume.

12: Headphone output. For connection with headphones via 6.3 mm plug.

13: USB-C connector. Connect to Mac, PC or mobile device via the included cable.

14: Line output 1/2. The balanced stereo/master output with 6.3 mm jack sockets.

15: Line input 1/2. RCA connection for line signals (keyboard, synthesizer, CD player, etc.)

Amber i1 has everything you need to record professional studio quality vocals and instruments. The bus-powered USB-C audio interface provides an excellent 24-bit/192 kHz converter and works with an extremely low latency. It features a high-quality microphone preamp with 48V phantom power, a Hi-Z guitar input with gain controls and separate line-level inputs for your synth or sound module.

Real-time processing and highest performance

The practical real-time input monitoring and master volume control can be operated directly on the front, a powerful headphone output with independent volume control is also available. Studio monitors can be connected to the symmetrical outputs.

Perfect driver support.

Amber i1 is class compliant and works with any modern Mac (Intel or M1 CPU or better), PC (Windows 10 and higher), and with and with many mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, etc. -For devices with Lightning connectors, an optional Apple Lightning to USB adapter is required). It is compatible with virtually any major audio software thanks to our professional ASIO 2.0 drivers for Windows and CoreAudio support.

The Steinberg application included with the Amber i1 is an easy-to-use audio editing and mastering software that allows recordings to be analyzed, edited, optimized and published.

Amber i1 comes with a 3-month subscription with up to 3000 minutes each for JackTrip Virtual Studio – whether vocals in choir or jamming with the band, everything is possible from home. JackTrip streams uncompressed lossless audio, delivering perfect sound, so musicians can stay in beat and sing in harmony as if they were in the same room even though they are miles apart.

Cubasis LE is the compact version of the Steinberg mobile multi-touch sequencer with the same “look and feel” as the large Cubase. The app is quick and easy to use, so that music can be easily recorded, edited and mixed – directly on the iPhone or iPad after connecting the Amber i1.
